Atlanta Soccer Bars and Football Pubs

In many ways, traveling to Atlanta can feel like traveling to an international hub. It has one of the world’s largest and busiest airports and you probably won’t have any trouble finding people from different countries checking out the city. But what if you have trouble finding soccer bars in Atlanta – places to watch your favorite European or South American teams slug it out – in a city dominated by professional and college American football?

Luckily, given just how readily available satellite technology is, not to mention Atlanta’s status as the aforementioned international hub that it is, finding a good soccer pub in Atlanta is probably not quite as hard as you might have first imagined. In fact, the entire process can be as simple as reading this article and following a few instructions – with a GPS or Google Maps as your guide. Once you know what soccer game you’re looking for, asking a stranger or two for some advice might not be the worst idea either; you’ll be watching your soccer game before you know it.

Finding the English Premier League in Atlanta

Looking around all day for the English Premier League in Atlanta shouldn’t happen – you should be able to find a quality English soccer game when one’s on in a relative jiff. How can you make this happen? It’s not as bad as you think. Across from Piedmont Park in Midtown Atlanta, you will find at least a few bars that host soccer games – that is, host them on television – for their soccer-rabid audiences. Heading to Midtown is also a great idea because you’ll find plenty of people willing to steer you in the right direction – although the Atlanta natives might need to make sure they heard you say “soccer” and not “football.”

All the teams from Manchester United to Chelsea can be found at these bars, depending on the games that are happening at the time. The FA Cup and Carling Cup will be major events at these soccer bars so you should have no problem finding a television showing your game.  In fact Tottenham, Arsenal and Fulham fans are just as likely to find their teams on as will Aston Villa and Liverpool fans.

Watching Bundesliga and Serie A (German and Italian Soccer) in Atlanta

If English soccer isn’t your thing, there are other premier soccer leagues you’ll be able to enjoy at some of these soccer bars – provided the soccer bar in Atlanta has plenty of television sets, of course. Bundesliga and Serie A, the main leagues in Germany and Italy, are surprisingly big draws over here in the United States, especially amongst Europeans traveling through Atlanta. A soccer bar with enough TVs should feature these games as they’re happening.  You’ll probably want to call ahead and make sure they feature the leagues you’re looking for but for the most part teams like Inter Milan, Juventus, AC Milan and  Bayern Munich are usally available especially during European competitions.

Enjoying La Liga (Spanish Soccer) In Atlanta

Still looking for your specific game – that is, a Spanish soccer game – in Atlanta? Don’t give up. Try some of the places known for their dedication to soccer and you should be able to find a television set featuring La Liga. You can always try the standard soccer bar and find a TV that’s not hooked up to a game anyone’s watching and ask if they can change to a La Liga game.  Teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid can usally be found especially for larger matches.

Atlanta [1] is the vanguard of the New South, with the charm and elegance of the Old. It is a city that balances southern traditions with sleek modernism. In Atlanta, the peach trees are plentiful and the tea is sweet, yet this city boasts three skylines and the world’s busiest airport. Atlanta has been burnt to the ground and built back up; it has seen the horrors of war and felt the pain of droughts and floods. Atlanta knows rebirth and endurance though, perhaps better than any other city. Atlanta was host to the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, gave birth to the greatest figure of the civil rights movement, is the beloved capital of the state of Georgia, and has become the enduring leader of the American South.
